Bonn, Dec 07 (deutschenews24.de/dpa) -- World champions Germany will travel to Denmark next year for an international friendly marking the 25th anniversary of the hosts` shock triumph at Euro 92.
The German association DFB said Wednesday that Joachim Loew`s side would meet the Danes in Copenhagen on June 6, 2017.
"Denmark has always managed to bring out top players," Germany coach Joachim Loew said. "Even if they narrowly missed out on participating at the (2016) European Championships in France, they play modern, creative and inspiring football."
Germany will use the game as preparation for the World Cup qualifier with San Marino four days later before turning their attention to the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia.
Denmark on the other hand will be looking back at their finest moment which came in the final of Euro 92 in Gothenburg, Sweden, when they shocked then World Cup holders Germany 2-0 to win their only major title.
"I hope that lots of fans will come to the stadium," Denmark coach Age Hareide said. Not only to support the players but in particular because it will be a spectacular game.
"It`s the perfect test for us before we meet Poland and Romania [in World Cup qualifying] at home in the autumn."
