Bonn, 12 August (deutschenews24.de/dpa)- Germany`s tourist boom is set to continue for the eighth consecutive year in 2017 with the number of overnight stays in the nation surging in June.
Overnight stays in Europe`s biggest economy in establishments with 10 or more beds and in camps having 10 or more pitches rose by 10 per cent to 45.7 million in June compared with the same month last year, the Federal Statistics Office (Destatis) said on Thursday.
While domestic German travel jumped by 11 per cent in June, the number of foreign visitors entering the nation was up 3 per cent, Destatis said.
Tourism as measured by overnight stays and camp pitches grew by 3 per cent to 205.1 million in the first six months of the year compared with the same period last year, the Wiesbaden-based statistics office said.
