Bonn, Nov 22 (deutschenews24.de/dpa) -- A man who dragged his former girlfriend through the streets of a northern German town with a cord around her neck while their son sat in the car is in custody on suspicion of attempted murder and grievous bodily harm, according to prosecutors.
Investigators are still looking into the motive of the 38-year-old, who owned up to his crime at a police station in the town of Hameln in Lower Saxony late Sunday after leaving the 28-year-old woman at the side of the road in life-threatening condition.
The victim received an emergency operation at a nearby hospital and was later flown to the city of Hanover for specialized medical care. She remains in life-threatening condition.
The couple`s 2-year-old child, who was in the car at the time, has been taken into care.
