Rodeln: Hüfner gleichauf mit Otto - Geisenberger nur Fünfte

Bonn, Dec 02 ( - Olympian singer Tatjana Hüfner (Blankenburg) has saved the German women sledding at the World Cup in Lake Placid from a disappointment and made a historic victory. The 33-year-old celebrated her 37th success in front of the Canadians Kimberley McRae and Alex Gough and equaled with Rekordsiegerin Sylke Otto.

 "It`s something special, I`ve driven myself against Sylke, I know what a great athlete she was, to be able to match her is a great feeling, I`m just proud," said Hüfner.

 Hüfner`s permanent rival Natalie Geisenberger (Miesbach), after her victory at the start in Winterberg, caught a full day as a fifth. Julia Taubitz (Oberwiesenthal) became Eight, while Dajana Eitberger (Ilmenau), who had still won the sprint in Winterberg, came to rank nine after a weak first run.

In the first race Hüfner Geisenberger put pressure on a clean performance. This was impressed and she made a serious mistake, which cost her a lot of time. In the second run, the double Olympian Sirochi was about three tenths faster, but could not endanger Hüfner.

As early as Friday Olympic Olympics winner Felix Loch (Berchtesgaden) had a difficult time with the men and only came sixth in the victory of the American Tucker West. Hole but still leads to the overall World Cup.


Hole remains in the World Cup with 33 successes and can only replace his great role model Georg Hackl and the Austrian Markus Prock from the second place of the eternal ranking. In the lead with 57 wins of the Italians Armin Zöggeler.


In the two-seater, the European champions Toni Eggert / Sascha Benecken (Ilsenburg / Suhl) proved their impressive form. In the third season of the season, the Thuringians celebrated their third victory and placed Matt Mortensen and Jayson Terdiman from the USA in second place. Third place was the Winterberger Robin Geueke / David Gamm. According to Lake Placid, there will be two more World Cups on the American continent in Whistler and Park City in the USA in the coming weeks. The highlight of the season is the World Cup in Innsbruck-Igls (28/29 January).
